RTO Registration
The first step to becoming a registered training organisation (RTO) is to register with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
To register, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have a sound business plan
- Have suitable premises and resources
- Have competent staff
- Have policies and procedures in place to comply with the Australian Skills Quality Framework or VET Framework.
Once you have registered with ASQA, you will be able to deliver nationally recognised training to students.
Scope of Registration
When you register with ASQA, you must specify the types of training that you intend to deliver. This is known as your scope of registration. You cannot deliver any training that is not included in your scope of registration.
RTO Registration Renewal
Your RTO registration must be renewed every three years. To renew your registration, you must demonstrate to ASQA that you are still meeting all of the registration requirements.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
All students who undertake nationally recognised training must have a unique student identifier (USI). A USI is a unique number that each student keeps for their lifetime. Students can use their USI to access their training records, including their transcripts and certificates.
