What is the scope of responsibility of the ASQA?

ASQA regulates VET qualifications training providers and courses for both Australian and Overseas Australian courses. It is about 90% the Australian vocational education.

Who is the governing body responsible for accrediting courses?

ASQA is responsible for accrediting courses in Australia.

 What is the difference between a qualification and an accredited course?

Qualifications are training packages that are a group of courses created by the government and approved by the government on the other hand accredited courses are created privately and are approved by the government.

Who approves accredited courses in Australia?

Accredited courses are approved by ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority), VRQA (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority) and the Western Australian Training Accreditation Council (TAC) approves accredited courses in Australia.

Who does ASQA report to?

ASQA reports to the CISC or COAG Industry and Skills Council and the Australian Parliament. ASQA prepares an annual report for the CISC. The Australian Parliament examines ASQA’s performance at Senate estimates committee hearings three times every year.
